Process Engineer

Details: PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:Support the Assembly Process Team by driving the development of process control and quality system improvements and measures.  Provide Quality Engineering Support to the Assembly Process Team.  Develop, plan and drive the implementation of prevention based on quality controls to facilitate continuous reductions in assembly process variations and defects.  Assist in the creation, implementation and management of a corrective Action System in order to create a quality culture and improve customer satisfaction.  Drive the development and implementation of the process to define assembly & packaging process control elements, ensure conformance to them and capture non conformances.  Instruct assembly, Manufacturing Engineering and Assembly Lead personnel in their use. Ensure measures have been established and are being utilized to verify assembly and packaging process conformance and drive continuous improvements.  Regularly generate and post reports on assembly & packaging process quality measures. Regularly communicate with the Assembly Team Leads and Product Engineers to review assembly or packaging related quality issues in order to ensure follow-up through the development of a containment and permanent solution. Provide early warning reports on new assembly or packaging issues. Coordinate with the Reliability Engineer & Service Engineer or Sr Technical Service Representative to ensure awareness to known assembly or packaging related quality issues. Participate in EO meeting to ensure awareness to design or assembly process changes.  Ensure implementation is in accordance with assembly process controls and serial numbers breaks are captured. Be a visible presence on the shop floor by providing timely troubleshooting on assembly and packaging process quality problems. Responsible for coordinating with Supplier Quality Engineer all activities surrounding quality gauges or tools for the assembly process. Participate in Quality roundtable and present assembly related quality issues. Investigate reported external quality issues that are believed to be assembly driven and present findings at Quality roundtable meetings. Perform or lead root cause analysis on assembly related quality issues and work issue through containment phase of corrective action process.  Generate CA document on assembly related quality issues. Use assembly quality to measure data to make recommendations to Reliability Engineer and CARB on assembly issue priorities.  Assist in development of permanent solutions to assembly issues. Participate in the Corrective Action Review Board (CARB). Identify assembly related quality issues that result from supplier non-conformance.  Actively communicate these issues with Supplier Quality Engineer. Participate in new Product Programs to ensure process controls are defined and developed prior to pilot production build. Identify and communicate designs with historical assembly related quality issues to prevent propagation into new products. Schedule and facilitate QC signoff on New Product Programs. Facilitate PFMEA activities and participate in FMEA activities as required to identify designs with high degrees of manufacturing variability and assist in developing more robust solutions.
