Production Supervisor

We see customer satisfaction, the personal and professional growth of each employee, total safety in the workplace, a commitment to our stakeholders, employees, and communities, and profit as a measure of performance. Gerdau is currently seeking a Production Supervisor for its Raleigh, NC facility. Job Summary:Within the established Corporate policies and under the immediate direction of the Branch Manager, this position is responsible for the supervision of the locations steel fabrication department. The primary function of the Production Supervisor is to assure cost effective and timely delivery of quality fabricated reinforcing steel bars and accessory items to customers.  The Production Supervisor reports directly to the Branch Manager. The incumbent should possess a general knowledge of the concrete reinforcing steel industry. The incumbent should be familiar with management procedures and techniques.  Qualifying experience on related work or lesser jobs of 2 to 5 years, including exposure to production control, reinforcing steel fabrication, delivery, and coordination of shop personnel.Reviews locations fabrication production results to insure that all phases of the manufacturing operations are within acceptable standards.  Primary areas of concern are shop scheduling, total tons fabricated and shipped, conversion cost per ton, man-hours per ton, earned hour ratios, on time delivery (customer satisfaction) and safety results.  Coordinates locations production activities, conduct training programs, oversee safety program efforts, spot check fabrication and truck loading quality levels and to facilitate effective use of division personnel, equipment and resources. Contact customers regarding job scheduling, shop production workload, delivery dates, order sequencing and miscellaneous issues that may impact the division’s fabrication and shipping operations.  Confer with customers over the telephone to confirm or adjust schedules. Prepare daily production schedule for the next day’s fabrication requirements. Coordinate and consult with customers and shop personnel on a continuous basis to keep informed about shop conditions and customer requirements.  Coordinate scheduling activities to maximize plant tonnage and payloads using production parameters based on available shearing and bending equipment, shop personnel, and delivery schedules.Reviews scheduling and shipping activities with Branch Manager  to insure shop inventory, fabrication and customer delivery schedules coincide with division and region sales requirements, mill reinforcing steel allocations, mill rolling schedules, and region engineering and fabrication needs.Works closely with Branch Manager, Estimators and customers to coordinate engineering and production activities to minimize customer delays, overtime, or fabrication errors.   Primary Duties and Responsibilities:  Assure that operations are safe and secure to minimize loss or injury and to comply with OSHA and other state or federal requirements. Administer personnel policies and maintain effective control of turnover and attendance by administering discipline and resolving employee grievances. Work closely with other Production Managers within and outside the region to effectively coordinate production activities to provide a cost effective, high-quality product that meets customer delivery and product requirements. Support and communicate, in a positive manner, company values, strategic plans, goals and objectives.  Responsible for carrying out company policies and programs. Receive incoming orders and examine for completeness of information. Schedule and coordinate production of fabricated rebar consistent with engineering and shop capabilities and customer’s desired delivery date. Anticipate and investigate delays and errors.
