Details: Overall Purpose of Job: MUST BE EXPERIENCED IN THE PLASTIC MFG. INDUSTRY TO QUALIFYResponsible for the effective direction of a group of employees in materials and receiving who are responsible for the timely delivery of materials to the production floor utilizing the Central Materials System and to meet production schedules ensuring that specifications for mixing, drying and residence for all compound materials are followed.In addition, specialist will work in a manufacturing environment and is part of the supply chain. The incumbent works with manufacturing and planning to determine the resources necessary to meet the production schedule. The Specialist requisitions resources through blanket orders and monitors scheduled deliveries from vendors. A planner expedites materials from vendors when there are delays in delivery.The duty of a specialist also includes continually working to improve delivery times, cost and quality of materials from vendors. The Specialist works with purchasing to improve performance of vendors and with engineering for quality improvements.Major Responsibilities:Assigns work for the most effective use of personnel and equipment to meet schedule requirements, and capabilities of employees in moving/mixing/storing materials, meeting production schedules and distribution of items received and distributed by the department receiver. Reviews data received and refer any questionable matters with manager or escalating process. Conducts performance evaluations and technical training with subordinates.Ensures that production schedules are met by purchasing the necessary materials including expendable packaging. Monitors the performance of assigned vendors to ensure continuous quality and timely shipments.Follow progress of work, investigates delays or inadequate performance, takes corrective actions on matters relating to product and/or operation, referring questionable cases to supervisor.
